In the battle, lolcats vs writers, Someone quite naturally is rooting for the writers!
With communicators on every one of our creative teams – marketers, writers, designers, programmers and translators – Someone chooses to support the writers in the battle between old school editorial and web-inspired memes. We do this even though kitties are cute and lolcats is an intriguing phenomenon of Internet culture!
This year, instead of socks and umbrellas as gifts to our friends, associates and clients, Someone contributed in your names to Berton House Writer's Retreat.

The Union has mounted an art show, including Someone’s recent fine print literary art broadsides, in MadProps – the gift store recently opened in the front room of the Centre. Drop by to shop! From $20.

Someone Water Series Launch

Nuit Blanche 2009 marks the launch of Someone's collection of literary art broadsides themed on water. This collection meshes letterpress tools with the latest digital design techniques, in a nine piece series of exquisitely crafted, limited-edition prints of textual and visual art. Reaching back to our roots in the Toronto literary fine press scene as Dreadnaught, this new series Someone: Water uses artistic collaborations to not only exemplify past and present technologies, but to create art of lasting depth and expressive power.
The launch promises to delight art enthusiasts. Five hundred copies of the two-colour broadside will be printed, providing 350 pieces for distribution at no cost to visitors at our Nuit Blanche installation"Impresshorium". Prints remaining will be offered for sale at Someone’s online store, and a selection of 26 copies will be held back by the publishers, to be gathered in the signed and lettered Someone: Water collection, projected for release in 2012.

Someone is busy working on a letterpress initative for the Union Yoga Centre in Toronto, theunionyogacenter.ca - Along with Maggie O'Connor, we've developed a really high impact direct marketing campaign that's guaranteed to get noticed!
It is a real pleasure to be using the press for projects like Maggie's. As soon as we have proofs, we'll post some shots for you to see.
