Someone opens doors to new interns

Through summer 2010, Someone will be introducing Design, Business, Marketing and Fine Print and Publishing interns to actual projects, providing leadership, instruction and collaborative creative opportunities.

Expanding customer services

With all avenues of client service bustling for attention at Someone, Abraham Nelson, in an apprenticeship role, will support Someone's core of service providers in many ways, including marketing, client services, product offerings and administration.

Welcome Abraham!

New Identity achieved for diverse community

In 2009, Someone collaborated with Kimbercote's marketing team to meet the organization's goals and objectives, redefining the position and focus of the organization going forward.

'The expertise that Someone has offered to Kimbercote has reflected their deep understanding of the organization's core purpose and history. Their creative ideas, professional attention to process and detail, and intuitive responses to the needs of the team members has resulted in a new graphic identity that reflects a broad range of membership and speaks to an increasingly large audience in meaningful ways, ' says Stacie Constantine, Kimbercote marketing leader.

Impresshorium Impressions

On Sunday at 7am, Someone crew members shut off the press, packed up video projector and equipment, and said goodnight to Cabbagetown Nuit Blanche 2009.

Our live video and letterpress installation, 'Impresshorium' is history now, captured in short video clip and still shots we'll share in the coming week. Finished in the night, a lovely stack of handprinted broadsides sits ready for distribution.

We're very proud of 'The Shore', first broadside in the Water series, and very pleased to have shared the history, process and future visions of our work with so many enthusiastic visitors, through the Nuit Blanche event, in Cabbagetown 2009.

Thanks for coming out. Stay tuned!

Someone runs the press for a Nuit Blanche installation

All night Saturday October 3rd 2009, for this celebrated Toronto arts event, Someone will be combining real-time digital video projection with letterpress fine printing on their 1950s Fag Standard proofing press, mixing traditional and contemporary design technology, to produce an installation called Impresshorium.

Towering over the press-room entrance, visitors will be greeted by a two-storey high, real-time video projection of the relief plate, live on press as inking rollers pass over. Simultaneously, inside the pressroom, limited edition illustrated broadsides will be produced print by print, featuring a poem by the 2009 Griffin Poetry Prize winner, A. F. Moritz, called The Shore.

The illustrated broadside will be the lead entry in Someone’s water-themed collection Someone: Water, and will be distributed at no cost to pressroom guests throughout the night.

This event is promoted and support by the team putting together the Cabbagetown arm of Nuit Blanche 2009 – if you're in the area, Saturday October 3rd, from dusk to dawn – drop by Winchester and Parliament to pick up a map. There are more than a dozen fantastic installations planned in the area - so don't miss out!!
